Lapel Pins: More Than a Fashion Accessory

Lapel pins have always remained as one of the most sought after fashion accessories. These are nowadays also serving as po[censored] r promotional products. Don't underestimate the simplicity of a lapel pin, as it can be a powerful marketing tool. A lapel pin can serve as an employee recognition gift, or a club membership insignia, and at times as a sign for military rankings.

There are many lapel pin wholesalers offering customized range of products at competitive prices. While buying lapel pins, most of the buyers think that they are all the same. But, you will be surprised to find out several options in terms of quality, colors, styles and workmanship offered by lapel pins exporters and manufacturers.

Before placing an order for lapel pins, it is important that you should know about the variety available in the market.

Cloisonnes Lapel Pins:

These lapel pins are the best amongst all. Available in sharply separated colors and intricate details, the pins have clearly visible text and design elements. The process of making a cloisonnes lapel pin involves creation of a custom die to stamp the design into a base metal. After this, colors are hand filled with powdered gl[censored] like resin mixture into the defined areas of the pin. Every color is then fired at a temperature of 1,600° Fahrenheit. The entire process ensures that color does not leak out of the pin. Then, each pin is hand polished to achieve a smooth, gold or silver plated surface.

Photo Etched Pins

Just like Cloisonnes pins, the creation of photo etched pins also starts with the photo negative of the design. An acid process is applied for etching the image and the text on the metal base. After this, enamel colors are inserted into appropriate spaces with one at a time. The metal sheet is heated at 450° Fahrenheit and the visible metal areas are then polished & plated. An addition of a protective dome on these lapel pins can prevent them from fading and cracking of colors in the later years.

Offset Printed Lapel Pins

In making these lapel pins, the image of the custom design is transferred from a photographic negative and is then layered over the surface of the metal. The process is similar to offset printing of brochures and pamphlets. In the second stage, each pin is cut from the sheet of metal as per the design specifications. Then the non colored or the raised edges of the pin are plated with a metal. As the colors in making this lapel pin are printed and not fired, an epoxy protective dome is must to be applied for protecting the pin from any scratch or damage.

Die struck and soft enamel lapel pins are amongst some other varieties of lapel pins available in market. Having an idea about lapel pins will certainly help you in deciding what type you want before placing an order.
